Made-to-Measure Dress Shirts by Two Tailor Petaling Jaya
A shirt is the most-worn garment in any executive's wardrobe, so it deserves to fit better than anything else you own. Two Tailor crafts custom shirts in our Petaling Jaya workroom from over 200 premium cotton and linen shirtings, including cloths from Thomas Mason, Albini, Canclini and Monti. Every shirt is drafted around your measurements, your collar preferences and the realities of a 32-degree Klang Valley workday.

A Shirt That Keeps Up With a Petaling Jaya Workday
A factory shirt pattern is almost always drawn for a temperate European office at twenty-two degrees. That has nothing to do with the reality of a working day in the Klang Valley. On a typical Petaling Jaya schedule you move between a thirty-two-degree car park, an aggressively chilled meeting room in Damansara Uptown, a humid dash to the Kelana Jaya LRT, and an evening reception at Le Meridien PJ. Cotton that does not breathe will trap perspiration and crease in all the wrong places. A block that does not allow shoulder rotation will tug across the upper back the moment you reach for a coffee.
Two Tailor has been drafting shirts around these realities since Jacky Wong opened his first workroom in PJ Old Town in 1975. Today Sarah Lee personally oversees every collar, cuff and yoke that leaves the SS2 atelier. The result is a shirt that reads crisp at 8am and still reads crisp at 8pm.
Common Shirt Mistakes We Fix Every Week
After fifty years at the needle, we have seen almost every off-the-rack shirt mistake the Klang Valley can produce. The most common issues that arrive at our door:
- A sleeve head too narrow to allow real arm movement, which tugs and pulls the collar whenever you raise an arm
- A body too short to stay tucked through a day of sitting, standing and climbing into a Grab
- A fused collar that bubbles after a year of dry cleaning in the local humidity
- A billowing back that bunches and distorts the silhouette under a structured jacket
- Armholes set too low, which reads generous on the rack but reduces the wearable range of every jacket
- A collar band cut without contouring, which sits uncomfortably against the front of the neck and gaps at the back
Every one of these issues is solved at the pattern stage, not in a fitting room. If you are tired of buying shirts that almost fit, the answer is not another size up, it is a block drafted for you.
Cloth From the Mills That Supply Europe’s Finest Houses
Our shirting library is curated, not catalogued. Each cloth has been chosen because it performs well in tropical conditions and ages gracefully. The current Two Tailor collection spans:
- Thomas Mason Royal Oxfords, end-on-ends and zephyr stripes from England, ideal for boardroom whites and pale blues
- Albini Italian poplins and sea-island cottons with a soft hand and subtle sheen for evening events
- Canclini twills and herringbones for a slightly more relaxed business look through the rainy November season
- Monti linens and cotton-linen blends for hot afternoons in SS2 and weekend lunches in Bangsar
- Specialty mills for brushed cottons, denim shirtings, statement Jacquards and tropical performance blends
Learn how to read shirting numbers and what they really mean for comfort before your first appointment.
The Three Pattern Choices That Matter in a Tropical Climate
- Two-fold high-twist cotton rather than single-ply. The yarn allows airflow through the weave and resists creasing over a long LDP commute.
- A slightly extended yoke and deeper armhole so the shirt moves with you rather than pulling at the shoulder seam when you reach forward.
- A soft, cleanly interlined collar that sits well with or without a tie, because most Petaling Jaya gentlemen end the day open-necked.
These three choices separate a shirt that survives a humid workday from one that gives up by lunchtime.
Collars, Cuffs and Details That Are Yours Alone
Once the cloth is chosen, the design conversation begins. Every element is yours to shape:
Collar. Spread, semi-spread, cutaway, point, button-down or our soft Roma collar for evenings. Sarah will photograph the collar against your face during the fit test so you can see how it frames your jawline.
Cuffs. Single, double French, mitred barrel or convertible. Cufflink wearers should ask about our hand-stitched gauntlet finish.
Placket and front. Standard, French front or fly front for a cleaner formal look under a tuxedo.
Buttons. Mother of pearl is standard, hand-attached and cross-stitched in the traditional manner.
Monogram. Three letters in your choice of position, thread colour and font. Many of our PJ executive clients place a discreet monogram inside the cuff or under the placket.
The Two Tailor Fit-Test Cycle
Your first appointment in the SS2 workroom lasts about an hour. We talk through how you wear shirts, what frustrates you and what you need them for. Sarah takes detailed measurements, notes posture and shoulder asymmetry, and Jacky helps you select cloths and detailing. A fit-test shirt is then drafted from your new block and cut in a neutral cloth. You return for a fit review, we mark any final refinements with tailor’s chalk, and the full order is ready three to four weeks later.
After this first cycle, your block lives permanently in our SS2 archive. Reorders can be placed in minutes. Many of our regulars in Bandar Utama and Damansara Uptown simply WhatsApp us the quantity and cloth reference, and the finished shirts arrive at their office by the following month.
Volume Shirt Programmes for Busy PJ Executives
For executives who live in a dress shirt, we offer ongoing shirt programmes that simplify wardrobe upkeep. After your initial block is finalised, you can commit to an annual quantity in selected cloths (typically six to twelve shirts per year), which unlocks volume pricing and priority production slots. Sarah tracks the archive, rotates the cloths for variety, and flags when a current shirt is showing enough wear that a replacement will be needed. It is the closest a Klang Valley professional can get to the “dress in peace” shirt routine of a European banker, without the flight to Jermyn Street.

Client experiences
What Clients Say
"Crisp white shirts that survive a full day of client meetings around Dataran Sunway and still read sharp by the evening drinks. I will not buy off the rack again."

Section 14
"I order four shirts at a time now. The collar finally sits flat and the body has enough room to move without ballooning under a jacket. Brilliant work from Sarah."
